The Story of Avalon
Avalon is a legendary island featured prominently in Arthurian mythology, often described as a mystical paradise shrouded in mist where magic thrives and healing is possible by priestesses skilled in ancient wisdom. Over time, Avalon has become linked with Glastonbury in Somerset in the west of England, due to legends surrounding Glastonbury Tor, the Chalice Well, and other sacred sites believed to veil the entrance to this enchanted realm. These stories portray Avalon as a liminal space between worlds—a place of spiritual power, transformation, and timeless knowledge.
As a spiritual center, Avalon symbolizes the pursuit of inner awakening and connection to the divine, especially through the lens of nature, the Sacred Earth, and the cycles of life. Pilgrims and seekers are drawn to its mythic resonance, viewing it as a place where the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds is thin, not only as a physical destination but as an inner landscape of healing, mystery, and initiation. It serves as a focal point for those seeking to reconnect with ancestral wisdom and the deeper rhythms of the soul.

The vesica piscis
vessel of fishes
A powerful spiritual symbol formed by the intersection of two equal circles, creating a shape that resembles a mandorla or almond. It represents the meeting point of dualities—spirit and matter, divine and human, and is often seen as a gateway between worlds or states of consciousness. In sacred geometry, it is the foundation for many other symbols and is considered a womb-like portal of creation and transformation. Spiritually, the vesica piscis embodies unity, balance, and the emergence of new life from the sacred union of opposites

On December 4th 1993, Hillary Morgan opened a store called Dragonwood to serve the pagan community at 1211 Hillcrest Street. I started working for her in May 1995. In July 1997 she passed the torch to Jack Greeney and the store was renamed Herne’s Hollow. I continued to work there. On April 5th 1999 the store and I “grew up and left home” when I took over with my partner Digby. The store was renamed Avalon for a sacred place of my homeland and to honour my first mentor, Druid, Dylan Ap Thuin, who took me there and to Stonehenge for Spiritual Journeys. Decades later Our Avalon is still the “Enchanted Island” welcoming new friends EVERY SINGLE DAY and calling our clients — Our Family.
